Medicare Prescription Drug Plans
Enroll in the Best Medicare Plans for Prescription Drug Coverage
People with Medicare Plan A and Plan B who take medication often find that their Medicare coverage is lacking. Consequently, they’re left having to pay out of pocket for expenses such as prescription drugs, special testing, medical procedures, and sometimes even doctor visits. Paying for these expenses can be very burdensome for seniors on a fixed income.
The good news is, there are a variety of ways to get coverage for prescription drugs and other expenses that are not being covered by their current Medicare plan.
Two ways to get Prescription Drug Coverage through Medicare
Medicare Part D
Medicare Part D helps people pay for prescription medication. The drugs covered by this part of the plan include outpatient prescription drugs only. While this part of the plan does include a large number of prescription medications, it does not cover all medications. You can find out if your particular medication is covered on the Medicare website.
Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage) plans cover all of the same services as Original Medicare, but they can also offer additional benefits that are generally not covered by the hospital coverage, the medical coverage, or the prescription drug coverage. Medicare Advantage is intended to save you money on non-covered medical expenses that you would otherwise be responsible for in out-of-pocket costs. Many of the Medicare Advantage Plans include Part D as part of the package.
